New Banner

Hey Folks,

What do you think of the new banner? It took ages but it was worth it, got my own personal banner now instead of a pic I stole form google images. I made it by typing the words in a really large font in word then pressing print screen and copying into paint so I could I could crop the image. I saved it as a Jpeg then went to this very cool site Knit pro 2.0, it generates a wonderful chart for you. I copied the chart into paint to tidy it up a bit and it worked very well as you can see :) I've used this for a few things and it works pretty well. I also have use it for my boyfriends secret birthday present, shh! Can't tell you about it at the moment as he might read it and it's going to be the best surprize ever.

So payday came and went and I finally got the chance to go to that lovely wool shop across the park The Pin Tin, I got some lovely Hand Dye Effect Sock Yarn that I am currently working into a shawl, the same shawl I did in a previous post Im doing it in purple and green. Should be finished tonight. I can't wait to wear it.

Anyway, I'll be updating again soon,

Kitty Hooded Scarf

Yay, New free pattern for 'yall. This is a present for my friend Sally, it's her birthday next week and I secretly think she is part kitty so she is going to love this. I used the left over uber chunkey yarn from my dress that I knitted.

To make it I used super bulky yarn with a 15mm hook for the scarf/hood part:

R1: dc in 3rd chain from hook and in every st in ch
R2: ch 2, turn, *fpdc in first, bpdc in next, rep form * to end
R3 ch1, turn, sc in every st to end

rep row 3 untill desired length. Mine turned out to be 79inches

in second to last row dc in every st across
in last row, *fpdc in first, bpdc in next, rep from *to end, FO

Fold the scarf in half and sew together from fold for 12 inches.

Ears: (make 2) I used G hook with bulky yarn

R1: 3sc in ring, ch1, turn
R2: Inc in first, sc in middle, inc in last (5sc)
R3: Inc in first, sc in next 3, inc in last (7sc)
R4: Inc in first, sc in next 5, inc in last (9sc)
R5: Inc in first, sc in next 7, inc in last (11sc)
R6: Inc in first, sc, in next9, inc in last (13sc)
R7 sc in every st, FO, leave tail to sew

Ear, Colour Part (make 2) I used E hook with worsted/dk yarn

Make the same as larger part of ear but add an extra 8th row at the end, leave tail to sew patch to ear.

Sew ears to hood and enjoy being a snuggely warm Kitty :)

Shawl, Done!

Well there you go, the finished product. I'm kinda disapointed that I have to give it away but I guess I've got the pattern so I can always make another. Got lots of different projects on the go at the moment and I've promised myself that I will finish them off before I start anything new. This is going to prove difficult.... as regular readers may know, I have just moved house and just across the park form me is the most beautiful knitting shop in the world, it's called the Pin Tin and I just can't wait till pay day so I can go crazy in there. So excited, I asked my boyfriend if he wanted to come along and tried to explain it would be like him going to warhammer world. I dont think he got it. Never mind.

see you guys later

Busy Busy Bunny

Hello there!
Well I am back to true form, got lots of UFO's (Unfinished Objects) hanging around as I seem to start one project then find a new one to start. It doesn’t help that there are lots of birthdays to crochet for in March. But it does mean I’ll have lots to share with you when I’ve got them done, and hopefully a new free patter by the end of the month .

I have started working on this lovely shawl for my friend Maisie. I thought it was so pretty she would love it. I’m doing it in aron yarn to make it nice and cosy. I couldn’t believe my amazing arrogance when I started this pattern, I consider myself an experienced fibre artist so I thought I knew all of the stitches... apparently not! I came across extended single crochet when I started this pattern and my first thought was “surly she means half double crochet” but no, there is such a thing as extended single crochet (exsc) here is a link to a tutorial. So I learnt something new which is always a good thing.

OMG! I can’t believe I forgot to mention, I got the tattoo of my dreams last week.

It’s says knit fast die warm and it’s on my thigh. I designed it myself and it is by far the best tattoo I have. I have a total crush on myself when I look at it. I hope you guys like it.

Anyway I best get to work, I have a day off and lots of crafting to catch up on.

Lovely Warm Snail

So this is my slightly confused snail wearing his shell warmer. He's got an odd shaped shell so it was kinda hard to work around it but he is pretty cute wearing it. I don't think it will be a regular part of his wardrobe as he'll just end up getting it all slimey but it is fun to dress him up.

This is what he looks like without the shell warmer. He's a giant African land snail called Tarquin and he's about a year old. Unfortunatly African land snails are illegal in America because they breed like wild fire but he's ok in the UK yay!

Well I hope you guys enjoy my cute little giant slimey snail he's on facebook as Tarquin Vassie if you want to be friends with him, ok now I sound worse than a crazy cat lady....

What Up?

Yo Homies!

Just checking in. So the move went really well, we are all unpacked now and got the internet back again. Not had much of a chance to crochet much but that shall be rectified soon. I started working on a shell warmer for my pet African land snail, Tarquin. It's totally shameless exploitation of a cute defenceless animal but he'll look so funny, it had to be done. There will be photos very soon of a slightly miffed snail :)
